Minnesota Vikings Stadium
The current Minnesota Vikings stadium is the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, which is located at 900 S. 5th Street in Minneapolis. Construction on the Metrodome began in 1979 and was completed by 1982. The facility cost approximately $68 million to build and, in addition to the Vikings, the Metrodome serves as the home park to the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball and the University of Minnesota's football team. It also hosts many different types of entertainment and sports events year in and year out, including trade shows, festivals, concerts, weddings, motorsports events and more. According to the facility's official website, the combined attendance of events held at the Metrodome since 1982 exceeds 55 million, making it the most frequently utilized stadium in the United States. It is also the only public stadium in the nation that does not receive a tax subsidies on a regular basis.

Metropolitan Stadium: The Original Minnesota Vikings Stadium
The Metrodome was not the first place to be referred to as the Minnesota Vikings stadium. That distinction belongs to old Metropolitan Stadium. "The Met" as it was known was built in Bloomington, Minnesota and opened in 1956. It was originally constructed as an attempt to lure the New York Giants baseball franchise to the state of Minnesota, but they went to San Francisco. The stadium did eventually become home to baseball, however, as the Washington Senators became the Minnesota Twins in 1961. Later that year, they were joined by the expansion Vikings, and both clubs played at Metropolitan Stadium until 1981. Originally designed for baseball, during the mid to late 1960s renovations were made to make it more football-friendly. Among them was the addition of seating in left field and behind third base. Metropolitan Stadium was demolished in 1985, and the area where it had been located is now home to The Mall of America.
